About The Lairhillock Inn & Crynoch Restaurant
Could it be that the English poet, Thomas Hood, had the Lairhillock in mind when he talked of, “homemade dishes that drive one from home”? The very expression, homemade, conjures in the mind a picture of a bustling, country kitchen filled with the freshest of produce and dishes made the traditional way – starting with a scrubbed and blank preparation board. That picture IS the Lairhillock.
Very much a family business – and a family that holds the inn in great affection - we pride ourselves on a firm policy that everything is cooked freshly; that our basic ingredients are the best available; and that our produce is the freshest because it is local. But there’s a lot more to the Lairhillock than our reputation established over many years for simply fabulous food...
Think of open wood fires crackling and fizzling as their flames cast capering shadows over low, beamed ceilings. Think of cosy nooks and crannies to slide into and an atmosphere than cannot help but induce that warm glow of contentment and well-being. Think of that wonderful homemade food accompanied by a lovely wine or a warming malt and you’re thinking of the Lairhillock.
When the earth rings like iron under our boots and the landscape is stripped to its bare essentials on a favourite walk there’s nothing quite like that distinctive whiff of woodsmoke flirting with you as you wander our ‘steaky’ passages into the Inn, conservatory or snug and sink into a comfortable seat with our menu.
