About The Greenhouse

A picturesque pub located near the village of Llantarnam. We at the Greenhouse aim to offer a great balance between being a high quality community pub for the local area and also a great food destination. The result is a really lovely village pub with great food, drinks and an attractive lawned beer garden. We have a large car park an ideal food destination.

The Greenhouse is a picturesque classic pub located near the beautiful village of Llantarnam. It has a great balance between being a high quality community pub and a great food destination. With an attractive walled lawn garden, this is a fantastic place to spend a warm summer’s afternoon, be it for a spot of al fresco dining or a relaxing drink at the end of your day.

The Greenhouse is a Grade II listed building dating back to 1719. It is located next to St Michaels & All Angels Church in Llantarnam where the Victoria Cross holder, John William Fielding, on whom the film 'Zulu' was based, is buried. It is also close to Llantarnam Abbey, a monastic institution operated by the Sisters of St Joseph of Annecy. The pub has had a wonderful extension added in Autumn 2011 providing more space for dining. Inside is open plan with a restaurant area where traditional pub food can be chosen from a main menu or Specials board. A selection of real ales, plus draught beers and quality wines are available to enjoy. If you are lucky you may meet up with the ghost of an old landlady who is rumoured to roam the pub

The Greenhouse is a small country pub that's part of the Brains Brewery chain. It has a small bar and a newly-extended restaurant area. This tends to create an intimate and cosy atmosphere. Conversely, the lawned beer garden is huge, so it's great if you are nearby in the summer. Apparently, they also host barbeques which are very popular.

The beers are primarily Brains but the prices are good and there's a fair selection of real ales. The pub recently had a total refurbishment so the furniture is in good nick and there are nice slate floors

The food is excellent and the staff and owners were very friendly. Watch out for the ghost of a former landlady who is rumoured to roam the pub!!
