About Coffee Continental

Coffee Continental was officially opened in Blackwood in 2010 by Caerphilly Minister for Regeneration, Cllr Ron Davies. It took Esther and George Apoussidis just 2 months, but 20 odd years in the dreaming, to transform a greasy spoon café into their dream coffee house. The emphasis is on chic décor, freshly baked continental-style cakes, great European coffee recipes and Mediterranean hospitality. Esther has always baked continental cakes at home and friends say they are too good not to share. They are now the speciality of Coffee Continental.

Being part German, part Welsh and part Greek, this husband and wife team give you high standards, attention to detail and Celtic warmth. Their humour and charm will make you feel right at home at Coffee Continental. So why wait? While exploring South Wales we came across the small town of Blackwood, so stopped for some refreshment. We were not having much luck, and were about to return to the car when we spotted Coffee Continental in the Market Precinct. What a joy! Some of the 'big city operators' should pay a visit and see how a 'proper' coffee shop is run!

A truly great place with home made everything (and George knows all about coffee too!). Their food is beautifully cooked and so fresh. A true delight... what a discovery!
